King after king succeeds or falls based on pride. Account after account shows pride leading to down fall. Converseely when a leader humbling himself and the people do so, blessing, success and victory come. The Lord clealry raises up the humble and takes down the proud. In whatever we are doing for the Lord let’s humble ourselves to serve for His glory not ours; his gain, not ours. Whose Name are we promoting?

Years ago I woke up self promoting and did that all day long, planning my next day of self promotion as I fell asleep. Even though I was good at my job I was always feeling empty, and/or unsatisfied. satan is crafty and was able to come in and suggest if I just did more, worked harder, more hours away from home I could somehow feel satisfied. It took awhile, but I’ve learned there is no happiness like the joy of giving glory to God. Maybe these kings were under the same impression, that more is better, maybe they had people whispering in their ears how powerful they were. The choice was there’s to make, and unfortunately they listened to whispers in their ears as opposed to the spirit in their hearts. May we all learn from their failure. May our ears be closed to the whispers of the world and open to the love within our hearts.
