Bruce and his wife Tamara have raised 5 children – 4 boys and 1 girl. Bruce and the family enjoy playing board and word games together in healthy competition. One of Bruce’s favorite outside activities is trimming the trees in his backyard with his trusty chainsaw. As a result, family and friends often enjoy evenings around their backyard fire roasting marshmallows or just talking.Bruce is also an avid racquetball player - this is where his competitive side really shows. He also is an entrepreneur, a mountain climber, a teacher and a creative, high-energy man. He often prays, “Lord enable me to use every minute for You today.” He has a passion for training leaders and leads a group of men through a mentoring process each year.Bruce graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Texas at Austin with a BA in Plan II, the Honors Liberal Arts Program (’82); received a Masters Degree in Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary (’86); and did post-graduate work at the University of Texas at Dallas in the History of Ideas (focus on philosophical hermeneutics, Hans Georg Gadamer and postmodernism.)He has planted a rural church in Van Alstyne, TX, and taught systematic theology at Dallas Theological Seminary.Bruce served for fourteen years in several pastoral staff positions at Fellowship Bible Church North under Gene Getz, where he also served as Director of the Internship Ministry, which trains leaders for local churches.Bruce founded the Center for Church Based Training and Chairs the Board of Directors. He writes courses to train leaders for the Lord’s service. He has authored, co-authored and edited several resources such as the four-volume Discovery series for discipleship and the seminary-level leadership course, The Church. Most recently he co-authored a book entitled The Leadership Baton published by Zondervan. One of his favorite Bible verses is Psalm 42, “As a deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God.”
